Pet-Friendly Travel

When you think of Nashik, the first thing that comes to mind is wine. Often called India’s very own Napa Valley, this little city has blossomed into a wine-lover’s paradise. On my Gurgaon-to-Goa road trip, I knew I had to make a long stop here. And let me tell you—it was worth every minute.

But this trip wasn’t just about sipping wine. It was about learning, exploring, and of course, making sure Leo (my furry travel buddy) had the time of his life too.

Why Wine? And Why Nashik?

I’ve always been a bit of a nerd when it comes to wine—not just drinking it (though that’s fun too ), but understanding its history, grape varieties, and production. My curiosity even led me to enroll with WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), a globally recognized certification. I began with WSET Level 1 just for fun and ended up completing Level 2 because… well, once you start, it’s hard to stop!

So, when it came to India’s wine hub, Nashik was a no-brainer. And while big names like Sula, York, and Soma dominate the scene, I chose Soma Vine Village—and here’s why pet parents should consider it too.

Why Soma Vine Village is Perfect for Pet Parents

  1. Truly Pet-Friendly – Leo could join me everywhere—yes, even at the restaurant while I ate my meals. No awkward “your dog can’t sit here” conversations!

  2. Peace Over Crowds – Unlike the bigger, more commercial vineyards, Soma had a calm, homely vibe. Perfect for unwinding after long drives.

  3. Stay Options – From hotel-style rooms to spacious villas, they had something for everyone. I tried both, but the Villa was where the magic happened.

The Villa Experience: Vineyard Living at its Best

Imagine this: a spacious villa with 3–4 rooms, airy common areas, and sunlight streaming in through glass doors. Right outside? A private pool and rows upon rows of vineyards. The smell of grapes in the air was intoxicating—even without the wine!

Leo and I stayed in Room “Tuscany”, which came with a comfy bed, modern amenities, and a balcony that opened to peaceful vineyard views. There was no kitchenette, but honestly, the on-site restaurants had us covered.

And the best part? Leo could roam leash-free inside and outside. After days of city driving, he had the time of his life sniffing around the vines, chasing scents, and just being his curious self. Watching him enjoy his “nose buffet” was more rewarding than any wine tasting I’ve done!

Moments to Remember

  • Sunsets by the poolside – golden skies blending with grapevines.

  • Balcony sit-outs – morning coffee for me, endless sniffing sessions for Leo.

  • The fragrance of sweet grapes – it felt like the whole valley was celebrating harvest.

After all the driving, this villa wasn’t just accommodation—it felt like home. A place to breathe, slow down, and savor life with my dog by my side.

Why Pet Parents Should Put Nashik on Their List 🐾

  • Wide-open spaces = happy paws.

  • Pet-welcoming resorts like Soma that don’t just “allow” pets, but embrace them.

  • Fresh air, sunsets, and a slower pace—something both you and your furry friend deserve.
