Another long road trip for Leo and me — this time driving down from Goa across multiple states. Our stop was Udaipur, and instead of staying in the bustling city, I chose the Tree of Life Vantara Resorts, a serene retreat on the outskirts. Having already stayed at their Jaipur and Dehradun properties, it felt like a natural choice — especially since most of their resorts are wonderfully pet-friendly.
The Journey
We drove from Vadodara via the Vadodara > Hallol > Godhra route (to avoid the Ahmedabad highway construction). The road was smooth, traffic light, and the drive refreshing — one of the best stretches in over 1,500 kms covered so far. The entire trip took under 7 hours. Of course, Udaipur is also just a short flight away from major cities if you’re pressed for time.
The Stay
Nestled in the foothills, Tree of Life Vantara is peaceful and picturesque. With no high rises in sight, the skies put on a daily show — blues melting into yellows and pinks at dusk, and on my lucky night, a glowing full moon in an ink-dark sky. The rooms overlook either the valley or the gardens, offering a refreshing escape from city chaos.
What Stood Out
Spacious Rooms — Elegant decor with subtle Rajasthani artwork that adds a local touch.
Valley Views — Breathtaking sunrise views from the balcony, the perfect spot for my morning coffee.
Open Spaces — Lovely gardens for long walks and playtime with Leo.
Customized Meals — The chef happily tailored dishes for both of us — a comforting touch after days on the road.
Thoughtful Service — Warm, efficient, and genuinely caring staff who made the stay memorable.
Final Thoughts
Our time here was short but truly sweet. The resort gave us exactly what we needed: rest, comfort, and a dose of Rajasthani warmth. We’ll definitely be back for more.
